The Presidential Environmental Youth Awards is a program that recognizes students in America for their efforts and commitment to help the environment. This award was started by President Richard Nixon and was hosted and sponsored by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) since 1971. The PEYA Program was established by the White House in 1971 and has been administered by EPA since that time. Up to 10 winning projects are selected each year from EPA’s 10 regions.
